Hispanic Heritage Month
The observation of Hispanic Heritage Week started in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronadl Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-dat period from September 15 to October 15. The starting date of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of indenepdenc for Latin American countires Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
